Remaking Star Wars, 15 seconds at a time
Over at the Star Wars Uncut site, fans are cutting Episode IV: A New Hope like a great big cake and divvying it up in delicious 15-second slices. The goal: mobilize hundreds of geeks to recreate the movie scene by scene. How they choose to present the material is up to them.
Which means that even though they're recreating the 1997 Special Edition version, Old-School Videogame Han shoots first.

I want to see the planning whiteboard
At some point, a team of PR people met in a room and wracked their brains to come up with a list of everything that could possibly go awry here. That list almost certainly included, "wrong color lightsaber." (Just above "pokes child's eye out.")
Kudos to you, unsung heroes of public relations, for making sure that Obama was a Jedi.
